Speaking of Faith with Krista Tippett is a wonderful radio program that explores religion, spirituality, meaning, ethics, and ideas through conversation. Krista’s guests do not speak for their faith or philosophy or for others who share their faith or worldview but instead speak from their own ideas and experiences. Her guests discuss their own journeys and struggles with faith and other thick issues.

Her guests include members of world faiths as well as pagans and also those of no faith– agnostics, atheists, and humanists. She explores issues such as the environment, gay marriage, interfaith dialogue, fundamentalism, etc.

She also does programs on science and has insightful programs about evolution, mathematics, and cosmology. I very much liked the program on whale songs. Some of her programs also touch on other aspects of life such as dealing with disabilities.

She hosts very enlightening conversations about the complexities of life, the great existential questions, and what it means to be human.

I recently bought her book, Speaking of Faith, and found it to be an excellent rumination on her spiritual and intellectual journey.

Joshua, thanks for such a thoughtful assessment of the show. Like you, Katy Payne was one of those guests that extended my understanding and the graciousness of human beings. She’s an environmentalist and activist that truly understands the complexity of these issues and living within them as she presses forward. Cheers.
