Popular Pastor, Rick Warren is now speaking out of both sides of his mouth. In response to the controversy over his comparisons between gay marriage and incest and pedophilia, Warren has posted a video blog on his website denying that he ever made such a comparison.

More behind the fold..

However, as the video from his interview with Belief.Net’s Steve Waldman shows– he did in fact compare gay marriage to incest and pedophilia…

Warren: “I’m opposed to having a brother and sister be together and call that marriage. I’m opposed to an older guy marrying a child and calling that a marriage. I’m opposed to one guy having multiple wives and calling that marriage.”

Waldman: “You think those are equivalent to gays getting married?”

Warren: “Oh, I do.”

Also, singer Melissa Etheridge reports that he apologized to her for comparing gays to incest and pedophiles…

He said he regretted his choice of words in his video message to his congregation about proposition 8 when he mentioned pedophiles and those who commit incest.

If he never made those comparisons (and we know he did) then why did he say he regretted making those comparisons.

In a recent interview with Ann Curry for Dateline, Warren characterized gays as immature and promiscuous and also said that even if homosexuality is biological, gays should still not act on their same sex attractions.

While affirming for his evangelical base that he is a homophobe, Warren is simultaneously attempting to present himself as gay affirming for the GLBT community.

He recently went to an Out of the Closet store in West Hollywood and had pictures of himself hugging gay men.

Rick Warren’s Saddleback Church also bans openly gay people from membership.  Due to the controversy the disclaimer covering this ban was removed from the Saddleback website, but now it has been put back on the website.

“Because membership in a church is an outgrowth of accepting the Lordship and leadership of Jesus in one’s life, someone unwilling to repent of their homosexual lifestyle would not be accepted at a member at Saddleback Church. That does not mean they cannot attend church. we hope they do! God’s Word has the power to change our lives.”

As previously noted while Rick Warren sometimes claims in the US that gays should have all civil rights (including Civil Unions) except gay marriage, he has said in Uganda that gays shouldn’t even have the right to be gay…

“Dr Warren said that homosexuality is not a natural way of life and thus not a human right. “We shall not tolerate this aspect at all,” Dr Warren said.”

And while Rick Warren loves to say that he is not a homophobe because he cares about HIV/AIDS, thanks to GLAAD, we know that he and his wife has admitted to not caring about AIDS when they thought it was just a gay disease…

Fox News: Hannity & Colmes – Warrens Address AIDS

12.20.07 09:00 pm – Pastor Rick and Kay Warren talk about their work with AIDS and Kay says, “I thought it was a gay disease. And for me I thought that meant I didn?t have to care. And I was so wrong.”

ABC: Nightline – Kay Warren on AIDS

12.14.07 11:42 pm – Kay Warren, wife of pastor Rick Warren, admits she did not respond to the AIDS crisis immediately because it “was tied with homosexuality,” but now says all people with HIV/AIDS should be treated with compassion.

Rick Warren’s church has also endorsed abusive “ex-gay” therapies which mainstream Psychiatrists and Psychologists categorize as quackery at best and abuse at worst.

Rick Warren has had other controversies including telling a Jewish woman that she will burn in Hell….

“When it came time for questions, a woman stood up, proclaimed her Judaism, and asked Warren if she was going to burn in hell. He paused before responding–and then answered
her question the only way it could be answered. Yes, he said to audible gasps.”

And calling for the assassination of Iranian President, Ahmadinejad.

“Hannity: Can you talk to rogue dictators? Ahmadinejad denies the Holocaust, wants to wipe Israel off the map, is seeking nuclear weapons. I think we need to take him out.

Warren: Yes.

Hannity: Am I advocating something dark, evil or something righteous?

Warren: Well, actually, the Bible says that evil cannot be negotiated with. It has to just be stopped. And I believe?

Hannity: By force?

Warren: Well, if necessary. In fact, that is the legitimate role of
government. The Bible says that God puts government on earth to punish evildoers. Not good-doers. Evildoers.”

Josh,

Great work! You have exposed Warren for what he is. This man is obviously a liar. He likes to play games with whoever his audiance is at the time.

Even if the mainstream media continues to give him a pass and continues to blame the gays bloggers like you continue to do the work that needs to be done – exposing this vile so called “christian”.

I don’t expect the mainstream media to ask Warren about the out right lies, distortions, and contradictions of his that the blogosphere has uncovered, but I truly wish that they would.

LETS NOT MIX POLITICS, RELIGION AND SEX

Its the first mistake

Politicians should not get involved about sex or religion

Religion should not get involved about sex or politics

Sex should not get involved about politics or religion

These are 3 personal issues that should not inflict one with the other.

Americans love doing so, and they are wrong about this issue, in other places in the world it is not an issue, because no one has to right to invade any of these 3 elements, do not confuse freedom of speech with the liberty to talk about any issue, it will hurt many because we all have a different opinion.

Rick Warren has his, Obama has his, I have mine, and you have yours, a gay men has his, a straight men has his, so why would we all want to know what the other persons thoughts are, if we will later disagree.

The problem today is that gay men want to show it as a normal issue, and it is not………
